Description

Join us as we open the season with our first-ever livestream event—A Lively Conversation: Beethoven, Ravel, and de Falla. This free program will be broadcast online at WJCMS.org.

Pianist Diane Goldsmith and cellist Vivian Barton Dozor, members of the Arcadian Trio, perform in an online concert. They are joined by narrator Ivan Woods, who introduces the audience to the musical selections with historical context and commentary.

The program begins with Ludwig van Beethoven’s Sonata No. 3 in A Major, continuing the 250th-birthday celebrations of the composer. Next, Ms. Goldsmith performs selections for solo piano by Impressionist master Maurice Ravel, including his virtuosic Jeux d’eau. To end, the program concludes with an arrangement of Manuel de Falla’s Siete canciones populares Españolas. This final piece explores the pleasures and pain of love through popular Spanish folk tunes reworked for the concert hall.

This free broadcast is presented without intermission.
